There are three alternatives considered so far:

    - create a completely independent wiki
    - create a wiki, get IGKT to partner with me, to have the wiki under their name
    - put all of my efforts into improving the existing content on Wikipedia


This page considers the third option.


Benefits:

    - it will probably be maintained better, and grow more, if it's part of Wikipedia


Downsides:

    - initial growth would be slower, due to higher standards for sourcing
    - initial growth *might* be slower, because I'd have to work within the confines of the existing
      structure -- I'd have to figure out how to integrate my ideas with the existing contributor's
      ideas




Content that I probably wouldn't be able to put on Wikipedia, that would otherwise go in an
independent wiki:

    - long list of professions that use knots
